Peter Vint

Dr. Peter Vint is an internationally recognized expert in high performance sport. He has served as a trusted advisor, consultant, educator, and speaker with leading sporting organizations including the US Olympic Committee, UK Sport, NOC*NSF, Titleist, Nike, Leaders, and professional sports teams in the NBA, NFL, MLS, MLB, and The Premier League.

Dr. Vint currently lives in the UK after being hired by Everton FC in 2016. As Academy Director, he was responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Academy Performance Plan and the leadership of staff who support the physical, tactical, technical, psychosocial, and educational development of 160 Academy players ranging in age from U9-U19.  He successfully led the Academy through the Premier League’s 2016 Elite Player Performance Plan Audit to retain Category 1 status and introduced a number of programmatic enhancements ranging from an improved football development framework, holistic parent and player support initiatives, and more complete and effective implementation of sport science, medicine, and analytics.

From 2012-2015, Peter served as the Senior Director of Competitive Analysis, Research & Innovation with the United States Olympic Committee and led the development of world-class programs to support data-driven sport performance, planning, and resource allocation decisions. In less than two years, Vint and his team developed comprehensive data collection, analysis, tracking, and reporting systems to establish, monitor, and predict athlete and team performance trajectories and medal winning probabilities for more than 100,000 international, senior elite athletes and teams competing in over 400 Summer and Winter Olympic events.

As USOC High Performance Director between 2009-2012, Dr. Vint led a team of sport science and medical professionals in support of five National Governing Bodies, including USA Track and Field and USA Swimming, which won 64 medals during the London Olympic Games.  He was responsible for high performance planning, resource allocation, and maximizing athlete performance through the effective integration of sport science, technology, medicine and analytics. In partnership with key members of USA Track and Field, Vint led a series of transformation changes to deliver new, comprehensive, and performance-impacting programs and services to athletes and coaches. Athletes who participated in these programs achieved 2.3x the number of season-best performances compared to athletes who did not.

Dr. Vint started with the USOC in 2005 as Senior Sport Technologist where he was responsible for developing and implementing sport specific measurement systems and worked to help make performance-related technologies more accessible and usable for coaches and athletes. Solutions ranged from customized sensor integration and software design to match analysis and performance analytics.

Before his tenure with the USOC, Peter held positions in academia, human factors research, and was a small business owner. He earned a Ph.D. in biomechanics, held a post-doctoral fellowship in Motor Control and Learning, and completed an executive leadership program at the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
